Using Client Certificate Authentication on Mobile Devices (for iOS)

You can use kintone on iOS Safari or the mobile app even if your domain uses Client Certificate Authentication.
To access a domain that is using Client Certificate Authentication, you need to install a client certificate.

Note that you need to install and configure your own client certificate yourself.

Using Client Certificate Authentication with Safari for iOS

To use kintone on Safari, you need to configure the following settings.

  1. Access kintone from a PC, click the Account menu icon (the down arrow) at the top right of kintone, then click Account settings. Screenshot: Accessing "Account settings"

  2. On the Account settings screen, click the Mobile Access tab.

  3. Write down the password displayed in the Client Certificate section. You will use it in a later step.

  4. Click Access via Web Browser.

  5. Enter an email address that you can access on the iOS device you want to use the kintone mobile view on, re-enter the email address for confirmation, and click Send.
    The settings file will be sent to the email address you entered. Receive the email with the standard iOS email app.

  6. On your iOS device, you will receive an email with the client certificate attached. Tap the certificate.

  7. Enter the client certificate password that you wrote down in Step 3.

  8. Tap the access URL provided in the email to access kintone on Safari.

You are now set up to use secure access in Safari. You should be able to access kintone using Client Certificate Authentication.

Using Client Certificate Authentication with the kintone mobile app

To use the mobile app, you need to configure your settings in the following way.

Preparations

To use the mobile app, download kintone on your iOS device.
Download on the App Store

For details on mobile devices supported by the mobile app, refer to System requirements (only available in Japanese).

Steps to set up the mobile app

  1. Access kintone from a PC, click the Account menu icon (the down arrow) at the top right of kintone, then click Account settings.

  2. On the Account settings screen, click the Mobile Access tab.

  3. Write down the password displayed in the Client Certificate section. You will use it in a later step.

  4. Click Access via iPhone or Android App.

  5. In the 2. Select the app to use section, select "kintone Mobile."

  6. Enter an e-mail address that can receive e-mails on your iOS device on which you want to use the mobile app. Then re-enter the e-mail address for confirmation, and click Send.
    The settings file is sent to the e-mail address you entered. Receive the e-mail with the standard iPhone e-mail app.

  7. On your iOS device, open the e-mail that you sent from your PC.

  8. Tap the attached file.

  9. Select kintone as the app for opening the file.

  10. On the Terms of Use screen, confirm the details and select I agree to the License Agreement.

  11. On the client certificate password entry screen, enter the password that you wrote down in Step 3, then tap Next.

  12. On the login screen, enter your kintone login password and tap Login.

  13. If you are prompted to allow the app to send notifications, choose whether to allow or disallow notifications.

You have now completed setting up Client Certificate Authentication for the mobile app. The mobile app screen will open.
