When "Less than or equal to," "On or before," or "Before" is specified as a filter condition, records with blank field values are included in the filtered results

If you specify one of the following filter conditions on the View screen, records with blank field values will be included in the filtered records.

  • A filter condition with ≦ (less than or equal to) used with a Number or Calculated field.
  • A filter condition with ≦ (on or before) or < (before) used with a Date, Time, or Date and time field.

If you do not want records with blank field values to be included in the filtered results, you need to add that as a condition to the field in the filter settings.

This also applies to the following settings.
If you want to exclude records from filtered results when a specified field is blank, you need to add that as a condition to the field in the filter settings.

  • The Filter settings of a chart
  • Initial filter setting in a Lookup field's settings
  • Filter in a Related records field's settings
  • The Conditions to take this action settings on the Process management screen
  • The Notification trigger settings on the Per record notifications screen
  • The Condition settings on the Reminder notifications screen

The following section gives examples of filter condition settings for Number, Date and time, and Calculated fields.

Examples of filter condition settings

  • For a "Number" field

    • Specify the Number field, ≦ (less than or equal to), and a number.
    • Add the Number field, ≠ (not equal to), and leave the last field blank.
    • Select All conditions are met.

  • For a "Date and time" field

    • Specify the Date and time field, ≦ (on or before), (Specify date and time), and a date and time.
      Or, specify the Date and time field, < (before), (Specify date and time), and a date and time.
    • Add the Date and time field, ≠ (not equal to), (Specify date and time), and leave the last field blank.
    • Select All conditions are met.

  • For a "Calculated" field

    • Specify the Calculated field, ≦ (less than or equal to), and a number.
    • Add the Calculated field, ≠ (not equal to), and leave the last field blank.
    • Select All conditions are met.
